This vintage Waterford Irish crystal liquor decanter has been made in the company's classic Lismore pattern. The decanter features a series of criss-crossing mitre cuts encircling the bottom. The criss-crossed cuts give way to vertical cuts that rise 3/4 of the way up the sides. The decanter's neck is finished with 10 paneled sides which give way to a 2.5" diameter cup shaped rim. The underside bears a large decorative 16-ray star design. The decanter is topped with a large ball-form multi-cut stopper.
The decanter is in very good vintage condition with no cracks or repairs. It should be noted that there is a small crescent-shaped mark above one of the rays and a small scratch on the opposite side, both of which are hard to see unless under very close inspection. There are some internal air bubbles present incurred during production that are also mentioned for accuracy. As seen in the accompanying photographs, these minor issues do not affect the appearance or functionality of the piece and are mentioned for accuracy.
The decanter stands 10.75" tall from the tabletop to the top of the stopper and is 3.25" in diameter at the foot. The underside bears the acid etched arched gothic style "Waterford" mark that predates the Seahorse mark introduced in 1999. The decanter weighs in at 3lbs 8oz. The piece has been well cared for and is clean and clear on the inside with no hazing or residue.
This elegant Waterford decanter displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a collection of vintage Waterford in the Lismore pattern or works equally well showcased on its own. A terrific addition to any home bar.
