Carved from bloodstone and mounted in silver, the seal is 3 3/4" in length (10cm). It was probably made on the continent of Europe some time in the early to mid 19th century. The matrix reads "MEMENTO OMO," a reference to Genesis 3:19 "Memento, homo, quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris" - "Remember, man, you are dust and to dust you will return."
