This watercolor of a Parisian cancan dancer on stage is by well-loved American watercolor artist Nancy Martin (American, 1906 - 2000).
Nancy Martin's works were in many juried exhibitions, national and regional, including the San Diego Watercolor Society, the National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic in New York; and many others. She is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society as well as a Master Signature Member of the Western Colorado Watercolor Society. Her work is in many significant collections nationally and internationally. She was featured in various publications including American Artist Magazine and the book, “Painting Flowers” by Elizabeth Leonard.
Nancy Martin felt that color is the catalyst which carries her from the initial concept to a completed work of art. She was an intuitive painter, relying on observation, composition, and personal vision. Her original approach combined color theory to create her paintings.
