What a great find! This is an early Late 1700's- Early 1800's glass jar with Sterling Silver Lid. Signed with what looks to be an AUSTRIA- HUNGARY silver # 13 17th c Hallmark. Hand Worked Hand Chased Inlaid with a High grade 18k+ Gold and HAND PAINTED & Inlaid enamel decorated with Pansy & Roses All done in ZWISCHENGOLD Work!!! Flowers & leaf laurels. This is underneath a layer of glass. Not sure what that these were originally made to be used for. If anyone knows, we would love to hear from you with more history. They were obviously extremely well made and expensive. Being all HAND MADE with GOLD & PURE SILVER & HAND PAINTED Enamel work. Just not sure what they were meant for after all of the work was finished! Have been told it was meant to be used as a HONEY JAR Don't miss out! Zwischengold is a technique where thin layers of gold foil are trapped in a double walled glass vessel. There may be painting or enameling in the same area. Most glasses using this technique are tumblers, so a true wine glass, such as this, is quite uncommon!!!
**Size** It is 6" tall and 3" wide
**Condition** In great condition for its age, with no chips or cracks. Just a couple tiny dents in the silver lid as shown.
