Offered for your consideration is this beautiful restaurant ware plate made by Shenango China in their RimRol WelRoc line for the Greenwood Inn.
The dinner plate features a scalloped border with a pink band and the Greenwood Inn logo within a brown circle. There are elements of yellow airbrush circle encompassing the pink band and white center.
I wish I could give you an insight into the Greenwood Inn’s history but my research so far is inconclusive; though, I welcome your help in identifying it.
There was a Greenwood Inn in Evanston, Illinois; and, obviously, the town of Greenwood, South Carolina is very historic, but I’m not sure where this originates.
The back stamp, with the iconic Shenango logo, and the G 14 mark, indicates it was made in 1956.
The plate measures 9 1/8” D, and is in very good condition without chips, cracks or crazing.
Perhaps, you come from a long line of Greenwood’s and are proud of your heritage. This would be a great display piece for your home.
The plate weighs 1 1/2 lbs prior to shipping, as is common with great American made restaurant ware.
