This is a near Identical Pair of Murano Millefiori Crystal Paperweights, produced in Murano, Italy, circa 1980s. These are hand blown and the Pontil is smooth, with rough edges on the circumference, this does not take away from the multicolored beauty of these Millefiori Pieces. The colored glass rods were first used in firing of glass products using multicolored glass rods, each rod is composed of glass rods called murrines. the collection of multicolors is referred to an a Millifiori or flower, fusing them together. This technique was first completed by Egyptians in the 2nd Century BC, later produced in Italy, especially in Murano. Weights: 2 lbs. 3.7 ounces, 2 lbs. 1 ounces, both 4 inches in diameter slightly different heights around 2 1/4 inches.
