Finding 4 or 5 together is considered great, but 14 pieces? That is truly astounding!!

No two members are alike, although there are 2 drummers (one with just drumsticks and the other with a stick and cymbals) and 2 violinists (although one may be a violin and the other a viola). Similarly, there is one cello and perhaps a bass player! There is a trumpet player, flute player, triangle player, accordionist, clarinetist, a conductor (rarely found), a cymbal player and a vocalist.

Several of the pieces are propped up by figural structures such as a shell (the vocalist), polka-dotted toadstools, a log, a snail (!!) seaweed, etc. Very cleverly designed. Our favorites are the toadstools and the snail.

The only one of the 14 that is 'signed' is the drummer with the solid black base. On the bottom, there is an impressed 'Austria'. It was under the black paint and as hard as we tried, we were unable to get it to show up in a photo.

They range in size from the accordion player sitting on a toadstool at 1 1/8" to the standing violinist 1 1/4". Excellent condition with extremely minimal paint loss.

Each is finished in the cold-painting process of the Austrian's employed starting in the late 1800s. Special enamel paints were applied to the cast bronze base. What we absolutely love about these miniature pieces is that the bright green frogs remind us of the teeny tiny bright green tree frogs common here in Florida. Those tree frogs are about the same size as these miniature musicians!

It is also important to keep in mind that because of the small size and 'cuteness' these pieces have a tendency to disappear when miniature people are near, so finding this large a group adds enormously to the value.

We recently saw a 5 piece group for sale on an online auction for $1,950.00. That would be $390.00 each!! Typically, a single figure will sell in the $115.00-$200.00 range depending on subject matter and condition. Based on what we paid, the fact that it is an extraordinarily large grouping, and our desire to find this large orchestra a new and loving home, we are pricing it in what we think is a very fair range. We hope you agree!
