Gilbert & George Style Gordon’s Gin Bottle, attributed to Reg Moon.
circa 1970
An interesting collapsed bottle sculpture / ashtray in the style of the famous Gilbert and George “reclining drunk” Gordon’s Gin bottle. The Gilbert & George bottles were purchased from the art potter Reg Moon. It seems probable that this is also his work. Being a clear Gordon’s Dry Gin bottle, rather than the normal green, it has the advantage of being able to be fill with any coloured liquid or sand of choice.
The auction record for a signed and numbered bottle is £5,000, alas this bottle has neither!
An obituary of Reg Moon can be found on the Guardian newspaper website.
Provenance
Purchased at auction in Sweden, copy invoice available to purchaser.

Slight pitting on the underside of the glass in places, probably caused by extreme temperature.
