Bone Parasol Umbrella Advertising Stanhope Sewing Needle Case in nice condition shows a single view advertisement for Warner's "Rust-Proof" Corsets. It shows a picture of a corset inside a horseshoe. The horseshoe says "Rust-Proof" and the name "Warner's" is above it. Below the corset is some fine text in the form of a rhyme which reads "Proof against rust. Proof against wear. Sold Everywhere."It was made about 1885 and other than patina and some superficial surface dirt is in great shape. The handle unscrews to put needles and sewing tools inside and is reminiscent of a honey dipper. It is finished with a pointed finial which is a bit unusual for parasol needle cases as they usually end in a ball and sometimes a human fist. The stanhope is located in the handle grip and it is very clear with good contrast. A great historic advertising piece. piece that is a nice collectible for those interested in Victorian fashion, corsets, stanhopes, sewing tools and implements etc.
