Bone Carved Fish with lure cap Stanhope Sewing Needle Case in very fine original condition shows 6 views of Chepstow & Tintern, Wales, UK. This interesting little sewing etui was made in France in the mid-late 19th century, circa 1885. The bobber or fishing lure cap is accented with grooved ridges and unscrews from the fishes mouth to reveal the hollow body where one can store plenty of sewing needles. The body scales, gills and the tail fins are carved or checkered and the eyes are black and white glass insets. The stanhope is housed in the grooved and threaded lure cap and is in immaculate condition and very clear and easy to read with great contrast. The image is titled "A MEMORY OF CHEPSTOW & TINTERN" in the center and "McKEE DUBLIN". The six tiny photos are also individually titled as follows:

CHEPSTOW CASTLE
WEST WINDOW TINTERN ABBEY
EAST WINDOW TINTERN ABBEY
WYNDCLIFF FROM MONMOUTH
ST. MARTIN'S TOWER CHEPSTOW CASTLE
TINTERN ABBEY FROM SOUTH WEST

Condition: Very fine and well preserved antique estate condition with no cracks or damage. A very nice piece all the way around. Please see the photos.

Measurements: 100mm long x 13mm high x 11mm thick
