This lovely Brown and Green Zephyr Lily Handled Basket Vase was made by Roseville Pottery of Zanesville, Ohio. This attractively shaped basket, #394, is reminiscent of a watering can and is decorated with a single lily in raised relief on each of the two larger sides. Each lily blossom is accented with three slender leaves, and, as in nature, each is slightly different from the other. Glazed in Roseville’s beloved deep Green and Sienna Brown colors, the lily flower stands out in cream with paler green leaves, and the background has a fish-scale-like swirl effect.
This basket vase measures 8-1/2 inches to the top of the handle, and 8-inches front to back. It is 3-inches wide and stands on a 4-1/8 by 3-inch rectangular foot.
Produced by Roseville circa 1946, it is marked with the raised Roseville name, followed by “U.S.A. 394-8” There is also a raised 0 above the mark, and “T 24” handwritten in black.
The only damage I find is a double chip on the front left corner of the foot. The front chip is about 1/4-inch long, and the underside of the foot also has a 1/4-inch chip in the same place. I see no obvious signs of crazing. This vase will require cleaning, but I will leave that to you to avoid any damage.
