What sets off cobalt blue better than gold? These rich cobalt blue and crystal stemmed wine glasses are beautifully decorated with a gold flower garland and a 5/16-inch wide gold band around the rim. Five trios of intricately detailed gold flowers, accented with scrolls and flourishes, circle the bowl of the goblet. The crystal stem has a flared circle of glass for comfortable two-finger holding, and the circular foot is also trimmed in gold.
Shaped like a small brandy snifter, each is 4-inches tall. The opening at the rim is 2-1/4 inches and the foot is 2-1/2 inches in diameter, with the bottom of the bowl slightly larger than that. There is no mark.
There is wear on the gold trim and an occasional bubble or blemish in the glass. The blue color varies slightly in depth. Each has a smooth pontil mark and the remnants of a paper label, but no identification. There are no chips or cracks.
Offered in sets of four, two sets are available. I have been unable to possibly identify these glasses, but based on similar designs and shapes, I believe they may have originated in Italy late in the 20th Century.
