This unusual Bone China, England, Teacup and Saucer set, hand-decorated with bright orange enameled leaf accents, is numbered 1127A. Decorated with a leaf and berry motif, a pair of narrow brown stems, too slender for tree trunks, “grow” from the green grass at the bottom, up the front and back of the cup and disappear into a cluster of large triple-lobed leaves of vivid orange enamel and green and yellow glaze. A willowy stem with a cluster of blue enameled berries dangles from the leaves. The saucer is decorated with a matching scene. Both the tapered cup and the matching saucer have smooth rims with silver-colored trim. The foot and the handle of the cup are similarly trimmed. This is a great Art Deco piece for your collection!
The teacup stands 2-3/4 inches tall and 3-3/8 inches in diameter at the rim, tapering to a 1-5/8 inch shallow foot. The matching saucer measures 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
The back stamp is a red crown followed by the words “Made in England Bone China.” The pattern number 1127A is also handwritten on the bottom of the cup. I have been unable to identify this curiously anonymous maker.
There is sticker residue on the undersides of both the cup and the saucer. There are extra small marks made in the process on these hand-decorated pieces, and any wear to the silver-colored trim is minimal. There are no chips or cracks.
