This set of three of Fostoria's Elegant Glass low sherbet in the Vernon Etch is a great find in gorgeous green! Elegant etched glass from this era of nearly a hundred years ago is few and far between, especially in this stunning green color. The striking pattern is called Vernon, Etch #277, on Fostoria's Blank #877, here in the Low Sherbet. This beautiful, hand-finished, plate etch is a striking Art Deco Style motif of a flower urn with two scrolling, circular arms spilling over with flowers dripping petals from their centers. The deep etch, meticulously created by an elaborate process done by hand, feels like a cutting. Fostoria's Green Elegant Glass is a richer green with less yellow than less expensive Depression Era glass. Each sherbet has the ring of fine crystal.
Each beautiful sherbet measures 4 inches tall. Perched on a 2-5/8 inch diameter foot, the bowl of the sherbet is 4-3/16 inches in diameter at the rim.
Fostoria only produced Vernon in green for the short period between 1927 to 1933. There is no mark.
One sherbet has the tiniest, barely perceptible edge nick along the outer rim. It can catch your fingernail, but it is not sharp and is very difficult to see. Other than the expected flaws characteristic of Depression Era Glass, such as bubbles, minor scratches, or other irregularities, there is no other damage to these gorgeous sherbets.
