Offered here is an interior-designed Blue Orchid Flower with Enamel Stamens Bone China Teacup and Saucer from Clarence, England. This exquisite teacup and saucer set is decorated with large, fully-open, dusky blue flowers on a baby blue background. The flowers cover the interior of the teacup and the front of the saucer. The blossoms are backed by elongated gray-green leaves, and each bloom is highlighted with red-orange enameled stamens. The outside of the slightly waisted cup is white trimmed with gold on the rim, waist, foot, and handle to match the rim of the saucer.
The teacup is 3-5/8 inches in diameter and 2-1/8 inches tall and the foot of the cup is 1-3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5-1/2 inches in diameter.
Made by Clarence between the 1950s to early 1960s, the back stamp is a shield that reads "Clarence Bone China, Made in England." The pattern number “286/59A” is hand painted in gold on the cup.
There are two places where the blue from the interior has been deposited lightly on the outside of the cup. There is also a glaze-pop on the outside, and a trio of pinpoint dots of gold. There is a slight dip in the rim of the saucer. All of these are manufacturing flaws and do not impact the beauty of this set. There is slight wear on the gold rims, consistent with normal use. There are no chips or cracks.
