The cusped ivory ground field is centered by a lobed cartouche. It displays an ivory inner with two bowls with diminutive town scapes and four fishes devouring smaller fishes. The field also contains two pairs of facing parrots and palmette arabesques. In the red extended corners are winged dragons, belching teal flowers and rust arabesques.
Excellent natural dye palette with green, teal, various blues, rust, sand, straw and red. navy border with doubly connected palmettes.
Fine weave on a cotton foundation, unusual and amusing iconography. Towns in bowls with banners: what do they represent? If anything. There is light allover wear commensurate to age,but very well preserved. Very soft texture.
From the best period of the Ferahan Sarouk era which ran from 1880 to 1910's.
