An elongated pole medallion of 5 hexagons is neatly positioned on a well abrashed royal blue field. The yellow axis and outline of the hexagonal elements takes the place of more usual ivory. Most of the rosettes and leaves of the quadruple border are, however, executed in off-white. There are three reds: a soft tone,a more saturated madder red and details in a dark tone. A hint of powder blue abrash enlivens borders on one side. The open field makes the rug appear longer and the pole provides strong centrality. No elements intrude on this logically rigorous composition.
The weave is single wefted, but an origin further north than Malayer is likely. Further evidence of a northern origin is the chunkier, firmer handle of the rug. The condition is very good with only very slight wear to the blue field. This well constructed runner will provide plenty of use in almost any environment. This piece has been cleaned professionally.
