This Victorian Hat Pin has a floral theme, one that the Victorians were fond of, as they developed a whole "language" for the meaning of individual types of blooms. Expressed in a curve shape, the head of the hat pin is in gold tone metal, in an open basket weave form. It is 2-1/4 inches long and 3/4 inches at its' widest. There are curling "leaves" appear to be carved, which evolves into what is likely a daisy blossom. It appears that two matching sides were "sandwiched" together. In between is a pattern of discs, following the curves. The pin shank is 3-1/8 inches long is inserted directly into the basket weave and was most likely heated, remaining in place after it cooled. This one is in great Antique Shape, so feminine and sweet!
