So incredibly hard to find is this little 9" tall French bebe doll made by Henri Delcroix, circa 1887.
She has a bisque socket head with oval-shaped face and a sweet pointy chin. Gorgeous blue glass enamel inset eyes. Finely painted eyelashes surround her eyecups. Dark brown eyebrows. Pert little closed mouth and accented nostrils. Original human hair wig is somewhat sparse. French composition and wooden five piece body has the incised G.D mark on her lower back. Original body finish.
She has on wonderful original tiny leather shoes with toe buckles, marked on the bottom with '1'. Panties underneath her dress. Dress was likely made sometime ago with antique fabrics. The fine pleated silk around the neckline is barely attached in the back and has shredding in areas.
She is in very good condition with no hairlines, restorations or other damage to her bisque head. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Paris GD 0 on back of head, GD on lower back. Rare to find this doll with a marked body.
